A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Akwesasne Atom B-1 and Pee Wee hockey teams held their end of the season banquet this past Saturday afternoon at Sprague’s Restaurant. Congratulations to all players on their hard work this season.
A ballot was passed out to each team mate and they were asked to vote for which player they thought deserved each award. The votes were tallied and the winners were decided.
The following awards were given out Saturday:
Atom B-1 Awards:
Atom B-l captains: Tom Thomas and Kyran Sunday: for making a positive difference on the ice and for being a captain of the Akwesasne Atom B Hockey team.
Atom B-1 assistant captains: Keaton “Sasta” Thomas, Skkylar Thomas, and Bailey Thomas: for making a positive difference on the ice and for being an assistant captain of the Akwesasne Atom B Hockey Team.
Atom B-1 Most Valuable Player: Tom Thomas: for making a positive difference on the ice and for your dedicated efforts. You are an inspiration to others.
Rookie of the Year: Amber Thomas, for being a force to be reckoned with on the ice and for trying your new sport endeavor.
Leadership Award: Tom Thomas, for making a positive difference on the ice and for being able to lead your team.
Hard Charger Award: Keaton “Sasta” Thomas, for making a positive difference on the ice and for charging down the ice to knock down the other team even if you get a penalty.
Most Dedicated Award: A tie, Dyson Lazore and Keaton “Sasta” Thomas, for making a positive difference and for spending the most time of anyone else at the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena.
Unsung Hero Award: Iokanoron Thompson, for making positive difference on the ice and for taking a penalty for the team, and asking did I do it?
Best Defense Award: Tyler Armstrong, for making a positive difference on the ice and for being able to get to the puck and knock down the other team whether they were boys or girls.
Most Improved Player: A tie, Bailey Thomas and Amber Thomas, for making a positive difference on the ice and for your dedicated efforts on the ice.
Sportsmanship Award: Bailey Thomas for making a positive difference on the ice and for being able to keep your cool on the ice with no penalties.
All-Around Player: Karerons McDonald, for making a positive difference on the ice and for being able to play any positions asked of you.
Hustler Award: Kyran Sunday, for making a positive difference on the ice and for being able to fly down the ice.
Biggest Cryass Award, Skkylar Thomas, for making a positive difference on the ice and for always crying for more ice time.
Longest to Get Ready Award: Karerons McDonald, for making a positive difference on the ice even though the period started and you’re still getting your equipment on.
Longest to Get Out of the Locker-room Award, Karerons McDonald, for making a positive difference on the ice and for being the last one to get out of the locker-room.
Most Missed Games Award, Skkylar Thomas, for making a positive difference on the ice even though a couple of times we forgot you were on the team because you never make it to your games.
Late to All Their Games Award: Kyran Sunday for making a positive difference on the ice when you’re there, even though the game started 15 minutes ago.
Most Goals of the Season: Tom Thomas, for making a positive difference on the ice and for having a spectacular season scoring the most points on the team.
Brut of the Team Award: Nonkon Thompson, for having the most penalties of the season. He made a positive difference on the ice and for spending the most time in the penalty box.
Pee Wee Team Awards:
Captains Awards: Keegan Thomas and Tylar Thomas, for making a positive difference on the ice and for being a captain of the Akwesasne Pee Wee B Rep hockey team.
Assistant Captains Awards:
Lane Benedict and Mark Pirelli for making a positive difference on the ice and for being an assistant captain of the Akwesasne Pee Wee B Rep hockey team.
Most Valuable Player: Mark Pirelli, for making a positive difference on the ice and for your dedicated efforts. You are an inspiration to others.

Missed Most Games Award: Tie, Timmy David and Alan Jacobs Jr., for making a positive difference on the ice even though a couple of times we forgot you were on the team because you never make it to your games.
