A Voice from the Eastern Door

In Memory of Mrs. Isabelle Oakes “GRAMMA BELL”

There are so many times throughout the year I catch myself remembering your words of wisdom. And say “ grandma use to say...”

I miss so many things about you but remember you taught me them well so when you were no longer here I could find my own way

I wish now I would have paid attention better, but I’m learning as time goes on

There was the chance to learn to bake them pies from scratch

But the curiosity and business of childhood caught my eye and won

I remember when you taught me how to make fried bread, it was a crispy batch.

The memories I have of you carry me through, to cherish the life I need to live

The lessons you taught me I now share with my children, and believe me they are a lot to give

The moments of clarity when you answered my questions with many stories of your past,

They are the ones that are precious and make my childhood seem like a blast.

These are the things I will forever cherish in my heart,

They are the blessings of you

They are the beautiful memories

Memories made with all of your children, grandchildren and family and friends

You left with a place in all of our hearts.

That place is filled with the blessings of you.

Love your Granddaughter, Danielle

With love from The Family of Mr. John Oakes
