A Voice from the Eastern Door
After the long month of January it was nice to gather all the students for the monthly awards presentation. Awards were presented to the Student of the Month, Most Improved and those students with Perfect Attendance.
The “Road to the Cup” reading program took centre stage this month by presenting certificates and gifts to the top readers of January.
Trenton Tarbell has won the “Spelling for Spezza” draw for the month of January. Each month the names of students who achieve 100% on their spelling tests are submitted to the Spelling for Spezza contest. Nineteen females and nineteen males are drawn from participating Ontario schools to win a pair of Ottawa Senators hockey tickets.
The Physical Education program at AMS also had some special awards to present to the boys and girls Intramural Volleyball champions. The “Vega” boys volleyball team of Ivan Benedict, Jeremy Williams, Brent Thomas, Devon Liscumb, Dante David and Travis Thompson and the “Nerva” girls volleyball team of Morgan Gray, Cierra Hill, Nita Jacobs, Cherri Jacobs, Destinee Jacobs and Shaylee Thompson each defeated six other teams to win the championship.
Congratulations to all the certificate recipients and keep up the good work.
