Iakhihsohtha residents participate in mini-Olympics

The residents of the Iakhihsohtha Home for the Elderly had a number of new games and activities to participate in last week as the staff organized a mini Olympic Games.

Every morning those residents who wished to take part in the games were given some exercise, fun and mental challenges.

The games varied from tossing a beach ball around to seeing how many bean bags the participant could toss into holes on a game board.

New Activities Director Maureen Benedict has been trying to incorporate new things for the residents. She said many of their current residents are quite mobile and not restricted to stay in bed. Although many rely on some assistance like wheelchairs, they’re happy to have activities to participate in and outings to go on.
