A Voice from the Eastern Door
A ferry boat that carries cars and passengers between Grand Isle, Vermont and Plattsburgh, NY crashed Friday evening.
According to reports, the ferry’s captain noticed the boat wasn’t slowing down as it approached the Grand Isle dock. He redirected it into pilings meant to avoid crashing head-on into the dock.
Three people were taken to Fletcher Allen Health Care in nearby Burlington for minor injuries and one vehicle onboard was damaged.
An investigation is underway as to the cause of the accident, and the caption has been tested for drugs and alcohol although results were not available.
Two other ferries will continue to operate until the damaged ferry is repaired.
