A Voice from the Eastern Door

Racing to Save Lives

Hello! (Sekon)

My name is Michele “Micki” King. I’m training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

I am running in the National Washington DC Marathon on March 21st, 2009. It is both a half and full marathon, I will know in the next month or so which I believe I am ready to run.

I am running in honor of a young toddler in my Native American community of Akwesasne (see his adorable picture). 3 and 1/2 yr old Wyatt Benedict was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in November 2007. Little Wyatt has undergone and continues to undergo rigorous chemo treatment phases that are expected to last for another two years.

I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. People like young Wyatt are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS’s mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
