A Voice from the Eastern Door
On February 13, 2009 PICEI, Pamoja International Cultural Exchange, Inc. will conduct a Silent Auction, coordinated by Betty Swamp of Akwesasne at the KANONHKWA’TSHERI:IO Clinic located at 31 Hilltop Drive St Regis, Akwesasne. They are hoping that this auction will be like none other with themes of Valentine’s Day, Automotive, Barbie Doll, Spirit, Movies, Collector’s items, Art, Living room, and much, much more. There will be something for everyone as they attempt to raise funds to sponsor the elder members of PICEI who plan to travel to 3 continents of the world: Europe, Africa and South America.
The 50/50 which Betty Swamp conducted was drawn at the end of November and congratulations go out to 3 year-old Bryle Arquette of Snye, Quebec, the winner of that drawing.
Last November, PICEI participated in the Bon-Ton Community Day Event as it has done for the past 4 years. Each of the eight times of their participation PICEI has given a free raffle to those who supported them by donating $5.00 which provided our supporters with the buying power of $10.00 plus other discounts. Many members said they saved thousands of dollars that way. The last 5 winners of the free drawing, November 15th were: Lori Raymo of Massena, who they hope enjoyed the electric chip & dip tray during the holiday time which she received, Carol Moulton of Brasher Falls they feel will keep nice and warm with the beautiful throw blanket she won, Ms. Mackey should have fun cooking this summer with the Portable Bar B.Q, while Pat Dings may try some of the unique recipes from her collectors cookbook through the year and Betty Swamp can share that giant umbrella with someone special. All of the chances were pulled by Little Miss Maya of Brushton. The next Community Day is scheduled for February 28th, 2009. You can purchase the booklet in advance from any of its members.
Are you familiar with PICEI’s Annual “Last Shall Be First 50/50” drawing? That’s the drawing where there are only 100 tickets printed and sold by its members, where as for every completed ticket sold by the first 25 members, they get to choose from an array of gifts from cash, gift cards, saving bonds, to TV and computer accessories and so much more. Ask how you too can become a member or just support the group with its project by purchasing a ticket for $100.00 or a segment for just $10.00, and win up to $5,000.00 or $1,000.00 respectively. The drawing will be held October 3rd, 2009 at First American IGA in Hogansburg.
