Bertha S. Lazore

Mrs. Bertha S. Lazore, age 77, of 1100 River Road, Snye, Quebec, died early Wednesday morning (December 17, 2008) at Cornwall Community Hospital McConnell Site, where she had been patient for the past 10 days.

She was born September 23, 1921 in Snye, Quebec, the daughter of Frank and Josephine Cook Sunday. She attended schools in Snye, Quebec. She married Mose John Lazore on June 28, 1951 at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. George Brodeur, SJ, officiating. He predeceased her on September 6, 1984.

She and her family lived in Toronto, she worked at a greeting card and ribbon factory and also worked as a switchboard operator. She enjoyed playing bingo, making baskets and other crafts. She also enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She and her sister, Rita, went to trade shows in Montreal to demonstrate basket making.

She is survived by 4 sons and daughter-in-laws, Gary and Paris Lazore, Washington; Ronald J. and Pauline Lazore, Snye; Francis and Naomi Lazore, Snye; Wayne and Charity (Brad) Lazore, Hogansburg; a daughter, Elaine Lazore, Snye; 15 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren; by 2 sisters, Rita McDonald, Snye; Elizabeth Reeve, Rochester; 1 brother and sister-in-law, William and Connie Sunday, Snye; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Agnes Phillips and Ann Tarbell.

Friends may call at the family home on River Road Thursday beginning 6:00 PM until 10:00 AM Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. George H. Belgarde. SJ. officiating.

Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, St. Regis, Quebec.

Arrangements are with the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.
