A Voice from the Eastern Door

Kana:takon School students share the Christmas spirit with our elders

On Tuesday, December 16, 2008, the K4, K5 and Grade 7 students visited the residents of lakhhihsohtha and Tsiionkwanonhso:te to share Christmas joy and cheer. Mrs. Thomas K5 and Ms. Levac’s 7A classes attended Tsiionkwanonhso:te on Kawehnoke. The students performed traditional dances and sang Christmas carols for the residents.

Mrs. MacLeod’s K4 and Ms. Lazore’s 7B classes paid a visit to the residents of Iakhihsohtha. Students decorated residents’ doors with handmade Christmas decorations. Once the decorations were complete, the residents were treated to the song, “Snowflakes, Snowflakes” performed by the K4 students. Students were then partnered up with a resident, after which they spent time together, visiting and talking, and having a snack.

Both the residents and Kana:takon School students enjoyed the time that was spent together during this Holiday Season.
