Cornwall Colt Goalie Reads “Book of the Month” to Kana:takon School Students

Justin Roethlingshoefer, the Cornwall Colt’s goalie read December’s Book of the Month, “Feathers and Fools by Mem Fox” to the entire Kana:takon School student body. Each month Kana:takon School designates a Book of the Month that goes with the month’s character trait. For the month of December the character trait is “Tolerance.” The book that was chosen deals with two flocks of birds that begin to fear each other because of their differences. The fear grew, and soon the birds became enemies, hoarding great quantities of weapons to protect themselves—until panic struck and the chance for peace seemed lost forever. Justin spoke to the students about differences and the acceptance of others. He also asked them some questions that related to the book. Students that answered correctly were given tickets for a student and an adult, for any Cornwall Colt’s Home Game. Teachers were also able to ask the students questions that dealt with items the students were studying in class. Every student at Kana:takon School received Cornwall Colt’s Tickets. Kana:takon School students and staff would like to say a huge Nia:wen to Justin for his help in introducing our character trait and book of the month for December. The Cornwall Colts place a strong emphasis on supporting education in our community. These literacy discussions help support the school with their endeavors.
