2008/2009 Heating Assistance Program

The following information is for the individuals who have applied and met the established criteria for the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s “Heating Assistance Program”. The application reviews have been complete and MCA staff is now working with distributors to implement the final phase of the program.

The implementation process begins by directly providing the distributors with a list of successful applicants and a bulk payment of the $600 heating assistance fund disbursements. The distributors will then enter a $600.00 credit into each successful applicant’s account, which will be accessible throughout this winter season. For example, if you use $300.00 to fill your tank, your account will have the remaining $300.00 for a later use.

All successful applicants should not rely on this credit as a payment on your account until the distributor has confirmed that it has been applied. MCA staff is anticipating a completion of the transaction of the bulk payments to the distributors by December 16th, 2008.

It will be the responsibility of the successful applicant to contact their individual heating distributor to verify and monitor the amounts of the credit versus the actual usage and regular payments made.
