A Voice from the Eastern Door
This week Kana:takon School staff organized a drive to collect items for Christmas care packages. The boxes will be sent overseas to soldiers. Most special were the greetings and drawings from the different classes.
The student council sorted and packed 21 boxes for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. You all did a great job.
Also, niawen to Liz Sunday, Dick Peters, JP Herne and Marsha Thompson for donating candy, to Janet Tatro for donating DVDs, Maddi Peters brought in hand made Christmas cards from Salmon River 4-H Club, Bombay, NY., Cecelia Lafrance for hygiene items, and to Sarah Totten and Paula Mendies, General Manager at the Speedway Plaza, on behalf of owner Justin White, who donated 100 small boxes of laundry soap. The Akwesasne Medical Clinic also donated much needed bandaids.
Niawen to you all. This community certainly is very generous supporting our deployed troops, and I’m sure they appreciate everything sent from our community.
