A Voice from the Eastern Door
On Friday, November 7, 2008 Kana:takon School students and staff attended the Heart and Stroke Fundraiser Kick-off. Some students exhibited their jump roping skills. Others received prizes for answering questions correctly about nutrition, cigarette smoking, and overall healthy habits.
All students will participate in this fundraiser. The Early Years students will be collecting donations for their “Jumping for Heart” Campaign. They will participate in jump rope contests.
The Grade Seven and Eight students will be participating in the “Hoops for Heart” campaign. Basketball games will be played in a Round Robin Tournament. The students will play for their FrogLogic Team. Each win will add points to their squad’s total amount of points. The winner of the Round Robin Tournament will play a team consisting of the Kana:takon School staff. All students can earn prizes based upon the amount of money that they collect for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
This event will occur on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 12:30 p.m., in the Kana:takon School gym. Our school goal is to have each child collect a minimum of $15.00. Hearts to put your name on are available in the Kana:takon School office for $1.00 each. These hearts will be displayed in the school foyer. Please help the students raise as much money as they can for this worthwhile cause. Join us on November 26 to watch the basketball games being played and the jump rope contests. Thank you in advance for your help.
