A Voice from the Eastern Door
On Oct. 30 the Akwesasne Mohawk Board of Education celebrated “Wear Orange Day”. The students who wore orange, won points for their squad. All the student’s that wore orange had their names put in a draw for two tickets to a Cornwall Colt’s Game. The winner of the tickets was our K5 student, Kayden Jacobs. The points are adding up for the individual squads. Keep up the good work!!
On Oct. 31, Kana:takon School celebrated Halloween the entire day. In the morning all students were involved in the games that earned points for their squads. The grade seven and eight students participated in the Mummy Wrap, Tug of War, Pass the Ball Dress-Up Relay, Fill the Bucket and Marmellies. The K4 and K5 students were treated to Face Painting, and games which included the Ghost Sweep Relay Race, Find the Pumpkin Top, Doughnut Bobbing and the Marshmallow Relay Race. In the afternoon we held our Costume Parade and a Dance. Music was provided by Kevin “Big Boy” Lazore. Kevin, thank you for donating your time. All the students that wore a costume were given a ticket for a drawing of a large basket of candy, games and toys, donated by Wishe and Dayna Green’s family. The winner of the basket was Star Mason. Each of the K4 and K5 students were treated to a gift bag compliments of the Student Council. The winners of the grade 7 and grade 8 costume contest each received a basket of goodies compliments of the Student Council. Costume contest winners were for Prettiest Costume-Taylor Square, Most Original-Janisa Benedict, Funniest-Louie Thomas and Scariest-Trevor Peters. Student Council ran a concession stand with money to benefit activities held at Kana:takon School. The overall winner of the points for our Halloween Activities was the Golden Warriors. Congratulations!
