A Voice from the Eastern Door

Trivia Night at Snye Rec

Our Community Health Nurses sponsored a benefit for the Cancer Support Group on Friday, October 3rd at the Snye Recreation Center. A Trivia Night was the event for the evening and thirteen teams of four showed up to support a good cause and have some fun too.

Volunteer Danielle Oakes-Jacobs acted as Emcee and moderator for the evening. Thanks to Leonard Lazore, Wanda Thompson and Ramona O’Brien for also volunteering and doing a tremendous job in the tallying of the points and keeping score.

Gifts were awarded to teams who got the most correct answers for Music Trivia (Team Tarbell); and knowing almost everything about birds (The Rounds and Pirate Pete and his Wench’s). A quilted blanket was also donated by Owen and Allison Benedict and was raffled that night and the winners were Joe and Bulla Herne.

After a grueling, and somewhat anxiety driven 4 rounds, there was a three way tie between the Old Odd Oracles, Team Tarbell and the Packers.

After another skill testing question, the Old Odd Oracles were declared the winners, not because they knew the answer either but because they bet the least amount of points; kind of like Final Jeopardy. There was jubilation and congratulations all around as the top 3 teams collected their prize money and some even donated their money back for the Cancer Support Group. Awards were also given to the team with the lowest score; the Skunk Award went to the Old Timer’s and Sunflower East. The Spirit Award went to Pirate Pete and his Wench’s who were dressed as Pirates for the occasion.

As usual, you cannot go to the Snye Rec without having delicious food to munch on. Snacks were plentiful and good.

All had a very good time and the Cancer Support group benefited from everyone’s generosity and know-it-all.
