A Voice from the Eastern Door
Author: Stephanie Meyer
The long awaited conclusion to the best-selling novel by Stephanie Meyer has finally arrived, enticing us yet again with its appealing array of characters, bountiful suspense, and a healthy dose of that envious romance between our modern day star crossed lovers. I give this book my very own two thumbs up.
Isabella Swan, or rather, soon-to-be Mrs. Edward Cullen has once again found herself in a compromising position. Bella has been raised to cringe at the very thought of marriage, yet she finds herself doing the very same thing that her mother warned her not to, marry her high school sweetie, Edward. Despite this, Bella has made a compromise that she wouldn’t dare deny, Bella wanted immortality and in exchange Edward requested her hand in marriage. On top of her obvious struggle to relent she has to worry about another issue, the Volturi. The Italian vampire monarchs who wish for Bella to either be killed, or turned immortal for her knowledge of their world. Their imminent return has Bella in a frenzy of frantic imaginings. It doesn’t help that Bella is also worrying about her parents’ reaction to the splendid news that she is going to be wed, knowing that this would be equivalent to a death sentence in their eyes.
There is bad news. Midnight Sun, which is Twilight in Edward’s point of view’s publication, has been postponed indefinitely, due to someone leaking the author’s rough draft onto the internet. Stephanie Meyer was upset with this so much that she decided to stop writing the book. She has posted her rough draft on her website, http://www.stephaniemeyer.com; this is only the first 12 chapters. I’ve read it and I am sad to say that it was amazing, knowing that I most likely will not be reading the rest. All in all it’s an amazing end to an amazing series. I recommend it to all. The ending to this saga was perfect, in my opinion.
