A Voice from the Eastern Door
Race officials at Mohawk International Raceway put in a gallant effort to try and get in Saturday night September 6th’s show, but in the end Mother Nature won out. “It was quite obvious the on again off again rain was not going to stop,” said Promoter Jody Swamp. “When the rain came again at 4:15 p.m. and the radar showed more coming, we had not choice but to pull the plug.” The DIRT/UMP Series race for the Pro Stocks will not be rescheduled.
Mohawk International Raceway will be closed on Saturday night September 13th as many cars and teams will be headed to Autodrome Drummond for their big event. Mohawk International Raceway will be back in action on Saturday night September 20th as the Empire Super Sprints return to M.I.R. with the best in sprint car action. Also on the card it’s the first running of the Semi Pro / Street Stock Run-What-Ya-Brung. Cars must be street stock or semi pro appearing, other than that it’s open season on what you can do with them. The Helm’s Salvage and Trucking Bandits will also be in action in the 1st Running of the Bandit International Challenge Cup that will pay $400.00 to the winner. The 4-cylinder Bandit class must conform to Mohawk International Raceway rules in order to compete. The Run-What-Ya-Brung event for the street stock / semi pros will pay a cool $600.00 to win and is expected to draw a large field of cars as well.
Pit gates will open at 4:00 p.m., main grandstand gates will open at 6:00 p.m., and race time is set for 7:00 p.m. sharp.
Mohawk International Raceway is located just off Route 37 on Frogtown Road in Hogansburg, NY. For more information visit them at http://www.mohawkintraceway.com.
