A Voice from the Eastern Door
Persistent showers and thunderstorms throughout the afternoon forced MIR officials to cancel Saturday night’s racing card at Mohawk International Raceway. Even though the skies cleared at around 4:30 p.m., the damage had already been done. Both the pit area and the parking lot area had been saturated with water and promoter Jody Swamp did not want to put both drivers and fans through a muddy mess that had been created by the downpours that had occurred for the better part of the afternoon.
The next card of racing is scheduled for Thursday night July 31st, when the Lucas Oil Series for the Coors Light DIRTcar 358 Modifieds comes to Mohawk International Raceway for the 3rd leg of the Canadian-American Challenge Series. Drivers from all over the Northeast including the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec will be on had for this very special event. The Action Race Parts UMP/DIRT Pro Stocks and Pecore Performance and Transmissions Semi Pros will also be on the card. The Bandits and Enduros will have the night off.
Pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m., main grandstand gates will open at 5:30 p.m., with time trials slated for 6:30 p.m. The first race is scheduled to go at 7:00 p.m. sharp.
