A Voice from the Eastern Door
Author: Sophie Kinsella
This week the book I chose to read didn’t really appeal to me that much. I found it was lacking a more interesting set of characters. I found them to be a bit too…plain. Sophie Kinsella had an interesting story line but I found it to be just averagely written. It might not have captured me but it may capture someone else.
The story begins with a woman named Fleur. Fleur is a gatecrasher, or a person who goes to funerals to meet rich men. At one funeral, she meets Richard, a multimillionaire whose wife has just passed away. Fleur dazzles him with her charm, sending him into a whirlwind of feelings, soon putting him under her spell.  After a short time Fleur moves in with Richard, hoping to just get as much money as she can and move on. Without realizing it Fleur begins to develop a sense of comfort, wondering if she really needs to move on and if it’s time to settle down. Then someone arrives from her past that threatens to ruin everything that she has worked for.
Although the book was just OK, I would still recommend it to the light readers out there who don’t have too much time for reading. You can put this book down and come back to it without having any trouble remembering; it’s easy to follow the story.
