A Voice from the Eastern Door
Hogansburg, NY – Concert International along with Discount have just announced that world renowned superstar, Jessica Simpson, will be performing live in concert on Friday, August 29th, 2008, as part of the 1st annual Akwesasne Music Festival. The festival will take place at the Discount Concert Grounds located at 344 Frogtown Road in Hogansburg, NY, and the show starts at 5:00PM.
Jessica Simpson has taken the music, fashion and entertainment industries by storm. A talented artist with universal appeal, she has become an international star and media darling. Her RIAA-certified double platinum debut release Sweet Kisses, featured Jessica’s massive breakthrough hit, “I Wanna Love You Forever,” which hit #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
But it was the success of her quadruple-platinum album, In This Skin, which marked Jessica’s debut as a songwriter and further refined her ever-evolving voice as an artist. “Sweetest Sin,” the album’s first single to hit the Top 40, is a marked change from the teen pop style that launched her career.
Having made her mark in the music industry, it wasn’t long before Hollywood was knocking on her door. In addition to a recurring role on That 70’s Show, Jessica’s MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica launched in 2003, making her a household name. In 2005, Jessica made her film debut as Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard and released a cover of Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Were Made for Walkin’” for the movie’s soundtrack. The song topped the Billboard Hot Digital Tracks charts and was certified platinum.
Jessica’s highly anticipated next album, Do You Know? is due out in September 2008. For this album Jessica returned to her roots – the Country format. The first single, “Come On Over” broke the record for highest entry into the charts for a newcomer to Country.
Another big name scheduled to perform at the Akwesasne Music Festival is Smash Mouth. Collectively the band has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. Along with their number one hits Walkin on the Sun and All Star they have consistently impacted radio with other recognizable hits like Then the Morning Comes, Cant Get Enough Of You Baby, and a cover of The Monkees classic I’m a Believer, which was prominently featured on the Shrek soundtrack.
Two additional opening acts will be announced shortly.
