A Voice from the Eastern Door

Book: Vanishing Acts

Author: Jodi Picoult

I’m really beginning to like this author; the way she tells stories is like she has lived them herself. When reading this book I was captivated until the very last page.

Delia’s life had been going pretty well, she had a daughter, a fiancée, and a good home. Everything was fine until her father, Andrew, is arrested…for her kidnapping. Delia’s world takes a downward slide, all the things she thought she knew are put into question. She remembers nothing of the ordeal that she went through or anything about her life before it happened. Dreams of things that she doesn’t recollect surface every once in a while, leaving her wondering of her past. Now, the man that she has trusted all her life, she finds, was the person who took her away from her mother, the mother she had so desperately wanted, but never knew was alive.

Jodi Picoult weaves an interesting web of lies and truth. She is by far one of the best authors I know. I recommend her books to adults who love a wonderfully written story.
