Golf tournament raises funds for all-night grad party

With Salmon River’s graduation ceremony quickly approaching, members of the All-Night Graduation Party Committee are entering their final fundraising phase. A golf tournament held at Cedarview Saturday was their primary source of funds.

The all-night graduation party is an alcohol free event that takes place at Salmon River immediately following the 12th grade graduation ceremony. Students stay up all night participating in various activities and events, eating food and having a chance at a number of prizes usually drawn after the sun rises.

Activities of past all-night grad parties have included a hypnotist show and a bus trip to the bowling alley in Malone.

Families of students participated in the golf tournament Saturday as well as regular golfers. Seniors Katie and Alley Bero helped out on the course, while Kim Treptow, Sweets Jacobs, Connie Gerow, Megan Johnston, Norm Treptow, Lisa Jacobs and Gilda Charlebois were among the committee members and other adult volunteers who saw the tournament go smoothly.

The best-ball tournament was won by the team of Dee Hart, Calvin Hart and Junior Herne.

Kim Treptow, one of the main organizers of the fundraiser, said last year they raised $4200 through the golf tournament and this year they expected to raise closer to $6000 with 116 golfers participating. It was the 7th annual golf tournament held for the all-night grad party.
