Notice to the Community

This is to inform the community that the following persons have applied for Akwesasne Membership.

Thomas Cook, age 19, son of Roderick Cook (Akwesasne) and Karen McBride Cook, a non-native.

Brendan White, age 37, son of Patricia White (Akwesasne) and Walter White, a non-native.

April Villeneauve, age 18, daughter of Thomas Johnson Jr.(Akwesasne) and Tracy Lalonde, a non-native.

Kananakehneh Green, age 17, son of Laura Green (Akwesasne) and Clifford Brant (Six Nations)

Alanna Cook, age 16, daughter of Clarissa Cook (Akwesasne).

Dakota Benedict, age 18, son of Wilfred Benedict (Akwesasne) and Sonia Boucher, a non-native.

The following persons are applying for Membership and a Residency Permit:

Francis Ingle, age 27, son of Louise Back Ingle (Akwesasne) and Stephen Ingle, a non-native.

Monica (Lamb) Peters, age 38, daughter of Lena Jock (Akwesasne) and Francis Lamb, a non-native.

Leah Benedict, age 22, daughter of Leslie Benedict (Akwesasne) and Sally Marquez Benedict (Oneida).

Community members have until Friday, June 13, 2008 to indicate whether they wish to make submissions regarding the above applicants.

At the Membership Board’s May 10, May 12 and May 21 meetings, the Membership Board approved membership for Teri-Lynn Leroux, Tina Louise Nuttall, Tanya Lazore, Samantha Benedict and John Wheelock and denied membership to Jessica Shenandoah and Kristy Lauzon. The Board granted a residency permit to Teiosakentison Elijah.
