A Voice from the Eastern Door
Author: Jo Barrett
Here is a book that will entertain the women out there who have been wronged by men. The author, Jo Barrett, creates a funny and interesting story of an angry woman who is ready for revenge.
Madeline “Maddy” Piatro was engaged to her “fiancée” Carlton for 4 years, and, in her opinion, 4 perfect years. Maddy thought things were going great until Carlton started acting funny and all of a sudden decided that she shouldn’t work at the company they built together and that he didn’t want to be with her anymore. He essentially destroyed her life. He lied, he cheated, and she wants to kill him, which turns out to be not as simple as she thought. After trying to poison him with arsenic brownies, which she tried to test and got very sick, and she also hires a hit man to do things to Carlton that would jeopardize his career which is, essentially, all that matters to him.
This book will make you laugh. Maddy is instantly a relatable character. Her quest for revenge is filled with wins and losses and many humorous situations. All in all this is a very good book to read. Some situations may not be appropriate for younger readers.
