A Voice from the Eastern Door

Tota Mama

To our grandmother who was one of a kind,

You were always a good person,

In your heart and in your mind,

When you walked with beauty and grace,

Where ever you went the people would stare and envy

The beautiful basket in your hand,

That was taught to you by your mother,

Which made you a lot of friends,

And the baskets were like no other,

Each one was treated with love and care,

Just like you treated each of your grandchildren.

Like each one was special and rare

We all wish here you could have been,

To see your children and the children of their own

How much each of us has grown

And how much we missed you all the time

Wish you were back with us

But don’t want to bring you away,

Away from the Sky World, just for us,

We still think of you everyday

You will never be forgotten though

We know your life duties are accomplished,

And at first we may feel grief and sorrow

And that we all have wished

That we told you, we all love you and want the best

For our wonderful grandmother

Who was laid down to rest

And now that peace has finally reached out to her

Up there side by side and full of serenity

We will carry on so we won’t worry her

Cause watching over us she will always be

And one last word from all your children

We miss you and care for you

For how kind and wonderful you have been

And for more than we can mention,

We thank you and we love you.
