Samuel Gilbert Jacobs

Born April 28, 1939, left Mother Earth on Sunday, March 23, 2008. Sam spent three years with the US Army in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, receiving a commendation for bringing his company back to safety when they were lost. Sam was a dance instructor for the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Syracuse, NY and at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Pittsburg, PA. He also worked as an alcohol counselor at the Partridge House in Hogansburg and Massena, NY. Sam loved to play golf and he enjoyed skiing.

Sam is survived by brothers; Donald Jacobs of Akwesasne, Micheal Daniel Jacobs and Gladis of Cato, NY, by sisters; Josephine Marie Jacobs of Bridgeport, NY and Lenora “Rubin” Abraham David of Akwesasne, by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews: Micheal, Doug, Dawn, Lance, Lacey, Nita, Adam, Donnie, Sheila, Barbara, Peggie, Joe, Frank, Nancy, Danny, Mary, Patty, Pam, Pricillia, Ronnie, Joe, Becky, Viola, Ida, Frank, Richard, Virginia, Betty, Edna, Leon, Mark, Larry, Debbie, Evelyn, John, Kateri and Don.

He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Abraham Jacobs of New Brunswick and his father Abe Jacobs of Cornwall Island, Ontario; by brothers Lawrence Abraham, Leon Abraham; a sister, Evelyn Abraham Sardella; a brother in law, Moses David; a sister in law Winnifred “Winnie” Jacobs, and nephews Andrew Jacobs, Robert David, Andrew David and Frank “Frankie” Sardella.

A private family service was held on Wednesday, March 26, 2008.
