Donald Burditt

Mr. Donald E. Burditt, age 83, of 743 Salmon St. Fort Covington, NY, died unexpectedly Tuesday (March 11, 2008), at his home in Fort Covington, NY. Born February  5, 1925 in White Station, Quebec, the son of James and Mary (Noreault) Burditt. He attended Ft. Covington Academy School. He served in the US Marines during World War II. He married Elizabeth M. Ghostlaw on November  4, 1946 at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Covington with the Rev. Robert Duford. He worked for Massena Terminal as a maintenance Foreman for 33 years and previously at Canadian National. He  was a member of  the American legion Post 939 in Brushton, NY. Past Master of Ft. Covington Grange.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Liz” of 62 years, a daughter and three sons, Debra P. Burditt of Massena, Harold J Burditt of Waddington, N.Y., Kenneth D. Burditt of Schenectady, N.Y., Ronald J. Burditt of Westville, N.Y. Two sister’s and two brothers, Laura Lantry of Fort Covington, N.Y., Kay Gray of Fort Covington, N.Y. Leo Burditt of Massena, N.Y., Robert Burditt of Fort Covington, N.Y., by four grandchildren and three great grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister and four brothers,  Florence Burditt, Joseph, James, William and Amos.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ft. Covington Rescue Squad, Meals On Wheels or to the Double H. Hole in the Woods Camp.

Funeral services were held on March 15, 2008 at the St. Patrick’s Church in Hogansburg, NY, with Rev. Stephen Rocker  presiding.   Burial will be in St Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Covington in the spring. Arrangements are with the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.
