At his age, Matthew was an accomplished hunter and fisherman.  He showed respect and knowledge of guns and had skill with a bow.  As an outdoorsman, Matt had the love of snowmobiling (especially Arctic Cats), ATV’s, dirt bikes and go-carts.  He was a dedicated “Ford Man” and with his brother, had purchased a Arctic Cat Snowmobile. Besides having the enjoyment of driving different machines, Matt had the mechanical talent of keeping them maintained.  He loved his family and was generous of heart in his actions and deeds.  He worked with his Dad for Bob Caldwell’s Construction Company and was with his Mom and Dad at auctions throughout the county.  His friends will remember playing basketball, going camping and the phone time with the girls.  Matt found peace in music, no special type, just a song that he could relate to at that time.  He was proud to be a Native American Indian from Akwesasne and made sure that the American and Native Flags were flown at home.  Matthew valued the friends he made during his life and considered them extended family.
