WARRANT EXECUTION – On Saturday, March 1, 2008, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service arrested a male individual who was wanted for a parole violation. The male was identified as 25-year-old Adam Louis Martin of Akwesasne, Ontario. Martin was taken into custody and transported to Ottawa Carleton Detention Center.
WARRANT EXECTUTION – On Saturday, March 1, 2008, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service observed a male walking Westbound on Island Road. The male was identified as 38-year-old Wesley John Cook of Akwesasne, Ontario who was wanted for a parole violation. Cook was arrested and transported to Ottawa Carleton Detention Center.
MOTOR VEHICLE PURSUIT – On Tuesday, March 4 at 1:44 a.m. the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service received a call for assistance from the Cornwall Community Police Service to help apprehend a tan Jeep Liberty for Failing to Comply. The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling southbound on the Seaway Valley International Bridge. Mohawk Police located the suspect vehicle, attempting to flee on Okwaho Road. The suspect vehicle slid into a snow bank and the male driver attempted to flee from the vehicle. The male driver identified himself as 26-year-old Jesse Thompson of Akwesasne, Ontario. Thompson was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Over 80 mgs of Alcohol. Thompson was released on a promise to appear for a court date of March 31, 2008 in Cornwall Provincial Court. Thompson was turned over to Cornwall Community Police Service for outstanding charges.
UNMARKED CIGARETTES SEIZED – A 44-year-old Sainte Therese, Quebec man was charged with possession of unmarked cigarettes and 20 cases of unmarked cigarettes were seized by police following a traffic stop shortly after 8 p.m. on the 1st of March, 2008. It is alleged that a man driving a Dodge Caravan was spotted failing to stop for an amber light at the Ninth Street and Sydney Street intersection by an officer on community patrol and stopped. An investigation followed and the driver of the vehicle was charged for failing to stop for the amber light and possession of unmarked cigarettes under the Tobacco Tax Act. He was released to appear in court on the 29th of May, 2008.
DRUG BUST – Members of the Community Patrol Division arrested an Akwesasne man and seized 3 grams of a substance believed to be marijuana emanating from the vehicle and as a result of an investigation the man (a passenger in the vehicle) was allegedly found to be in possession of a controlled substance. Edward Hall, 38 of Akwesasne was charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was released to appear in court on the 14th of April, 2008.
