Mohawk International Raceway, formerly Frogtown International Speedway, will be opening its gates for what plans to be an exciting and action packed 2008 racing season that will feature everything from more special races in all classes, to the return of a fabulous fireworks display scheduled for the end of June.
The season kicks off on Saturday May 3rd with the 1st running of the Mohawk 30 for the open wheel DIRTcar 358 Modifieds that will feature 30 laps of great racing and a cool $1500.00 to win. The UMP/DIRT Pro Stocks, Semi Pros, Bandits, and Enduro classes will also be in action.
Racing will continue throughout the 2008 season every Saturday night from May-September with a few exceptions where special races are involved. The Speedway will be closed on Saturday August 2nd, Saturday August 23rd, and Saturday September 13th. On Saturday August 2nd the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds will be at Brockville Ontario Speedway for the Lucas Oil Series and the UMP/DIRT Pro Stocks will be at Genesee Speedway for a special Pro Stock Super DIRT Series event.
On Thursday August 20th, the DIRTcar 358 Modified Super DIRT Series returns to Akwesasne and Mohawk International Raceway for the 1st running of the “Akwesasne 100” for the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds. The UMP/DIRT Pro Stocks and Semi Pros will also be on the card but the Bandit and Enduro classes will have the night off. Therefore there will be no racing on Saturday August 23rd because of this special midweek show.
On Saturday September 13th the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds will be at Autodrome Drummond for a special event and the UMP/DIRT Pro Stocks will be in action at a Super Dirt Series event that weekend. In the past this date has not drawn a lot of cars for a regular night of racing so officials have decided to be closed on this date.
As far as special racing events go there will be plenty of them at the speedway in 2008. On Saturday night May 3rd, the speedway’s salute to our veterans who are race fans begins with the 1st running of the Armed Forces Day Classic for the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds plus a regular card of racing. All VFW, American and Canadian Legion, AMVETS and Navy Ship Club members will be admitted for half price that night just by showing their membership card at the ticket window.
On Saturday night May 24th, The CKON-FM/Mohawk International Raceway triple Crown for DIRTcar 358 Modifieds kicks off with the 18th running of the crowned jewel of North Country stock car racing, the “Memorial Cup” 50 lap Syracuse Qualifier sponsored by Frenchie’s Chevrolet with $2000.00 going to the winner.
On Saturday night June 7th, the Empire Super Sprints return to the speedway for the “Sprint Car Spectacular” and for the first time ever the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds will be added to the card along with the UMP/DIRT Pro Stocks. There will be no Semi Pro, Bandit, or Enduro racing on this special card.
On Saturday night June 28th, it’s the 1st running of the “Independence 30” for the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds paying $1500.00 to win plus a regular card of racing and a huge fireworks display that you won’t want to miss.
On Saturday night July 19th the Mohawk Racing Parts UMP/DIRT Pro Stock Series comes to town. Also on the card will be the first of two Run-What-Ya-Brung races for the Modifieds plus a regular card of racing in all other classes. On Thursday night July 31st, the 2nd leg of the CKON/Mohawk International Raceway Triple Crown of racing will be run featuring the 2nd running of the Mohawk Nations Cup for the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds as part of the exciting Lucas Oil Series for this class. The UMP/DIRT Pro Stocks and Semi Pros will also be on this card.
On Thursday night August 20th, it will be the return of the DIRTcar 358 Modified Super Dirt Series to the Speedway with the 1st running of the Akwesasne 100. The UMP/DIRT Pro Stocks and Semi Pros will also be on this special card.
Saturday night August 30th will feature the 3rd leg of the triple crown with the 8th running of the “Race of Champions” DIRTcar 358 Modified Syracuse Qualifier plus a regular card of racing in all classes. On Saturday night September 6th, the UMP/DIRT Pro Stocks Super DIRT Series comes to M.I.R. plus the second Run-What-Ya-Brung race for the Modifieds paying $1200.00 to win. The Semi Pros, Bandits, and Enduros will also be on the card.
On Saturday night September 20th, it’s the 2nd running of the Fall Sprint Car Championship for the Empire Super Sprints. Also on this card will be the first ever Semi Pro/Street Stock Run-What-Ya-Brung paying $600.00 to win plus the 1st ever Bandit International Challenge Cup paying $400.00 to win.
On Saturday afternoon September 29th at 2:00pm it’s the 21st running of the CKON-FM Iron Man Slic Track Enduro 100 paying $1000.00 to win plus the 2nd running of the “Backwards Race” paying $300.00 to win. The next day, Sunday September 30th, it will be the 1st ever “Smash-em Crash-Em Super Demolition Derby for Large, Medium, and Small cars.

Frenchie’s Chevrolet to Sponsor Memorial Cup Once Again In 2008
Frenchie’s Chevrolet 255 East Orvis Street in Massena the home of the “Real Deal” has signed on once again to sponsor the 18th running of the Memorial Cup for the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds on Saturday May 24th at
Mohawk International Raceway, formerly Frogtown Speedway. This will be the 10th season that Frenchie’s Chevrolet has sponsored this special 50 lap Syracuse Qualifier that has attracted some of the top names in small block racing over the past 18 years.

The defending Memorial Cup Champion is Danny Johnson of Rochester, NY but at press time it was not known whether or not “The Doctor” will defend his Memorial Cup title and look to get his name engraved on the prestigious cup for a second time.
Also on this card will be the 8th running of the “Veterans Trophy” for the UMP/DIRT Pro Stocks plus a regular card of racing for the Semi Pros, Bandits and Enduro classes. Mohawk International Raceway Drivers and Owners Meeting Set For March 1st
Mohawk International Raceway formerly Frogtown International Speedway will be having its annual drivers and owners meeting on Saturday March 1st at 1:00pm at the Brass Horse Grill on Route 37 in Akwesasne (Hogansburg), NY for all classes. There will be a closed door meeting at Brass Horse Grill for race officials at 12:00pm before the start of the main meeting at 1:00pm.
In the past the speedway has had a split session for the various classes but this year Co-General Manager and Public Relations Director Jamie Davis has decided to make it a combined meeting. All drivers and owners expecting to compete in the DIRTcar 358 Modified, UMP/DIRT Pro Stock, Semi-Pro, Bandit and Enduro Classes are asked to attend this important meeting. There will be a number of topics that will be discussed over the course of the meeting.
Mohawk International Raceway officials once again urge all competitors and their owners to please attend the meeting. This will be a great opportunity for everyone to have questions answered and discuss the
upcoming season so that Mohawk International Raceway’s first season of racing can be a smooth and exciting season for everyone.
Once again this year Brass Horse Grill is sponsoring the event. Pizza and wings will be provided at the conclusion of the meeting.
Frogtown International Speedway sets date for 2007 Awards Banquet
Mohawk International Raceway formerly Frogtown International Speedway has officially announced the date and place of the Speedways Annual awards banquet that will honor drivers who competed in the 2007 season and finished in the top ten in the DIRTcar 358 Modified, UMP/DIRT Pro Stock, Semi Pro, and Bandit divisions and will honor the top five in the Enduro Class. The event will take place on Saturday March 15, 2008.
Track Champions Dave Heaslip (RPS Performance DIRTcar 358 Modifieds), Clayton Benedict (Action Race Parts UMP/DIRT Pro Stocks), Mike Allen (Pecore’s Performance and Transmissions Semi Pros), Claudia Tarbell (Helm’s Salvage and Trucking Bandits), and Kevin Thompson (Enduros) will officially be crowned 2007 track champions at this popular event.
The 20th annual awards banquet will be held at the popular Brass Horse Grill located on Route 37 in Akwesasne (Hogansburg), NY and will feature the “Traditional Buffet” style dinner with all the trimmings. Dinner will be served at 7:00pm. A cocktail hour will precede dinner at 6:00pm and the awards ceremony will begin immediately following dinner with entertainment provided by a D.J. following the awards presentation sponsored by Brass Horse Grill and Mohawk International Raceway.
Brass Horse Grill is located just minutes from Frogtown International Speedway and the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino on Route 37 in Akwesasne (Hogansburg), NY.
