A Voice from the Eastern Door

Country legend Randy Travis stops by

“Diggin’ up Bones” is easily one of country music’s most recognizable tunes. Last Wednesday, Feb. 20, the voice of “Diggin’ Up Bones” performed at the All-Inn Lounge. Randy Travis, a country superstar, played to a packed house of country music fans.

“Do ya think people will dance?” Travis asked backstage.

The Akwesasne crowd had sections of eager fans who screamed with excitement at the site of Travis and continued to do so throughout the show, to the singer’s delight.

Travis has released 22 albums since 1986, with hits like “Forever and Ever, Amen” being played endlessly on country stations ever since.

Prior to the show, Travis and his small entourage pulled up in a bus behind the All-Inn and were brought through a back hallway into the dressing room. Then, community members lucky enough to get their hands on a backstage pass met with singer and posed for photos with him.

The crews from All-Inn, Laurel, and CKON worked pulled off the show despite its last minute addition as a stop on Travis’ tour. Police from the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Department offered traffic control and security.

The next big name set to hit the All-Inn Stage: Collective Soul. The rock band will break a three-in-a-row country music streak at the Akwesasne venue to perform their grunge-like rock music. The band has been popular since the early 90s when their song “Shine” climbed music charts.

Collective Soul will play All-Inn on April 9th at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at Ticketweb.com.
