A Voice from the Eastern Door
Author: Libby Bray
This book has it all: the suspense, the drama, and even a hint of romance to go with it. This is the first book I’ve read by Libby Bray. It’s a success.
Gamma Doyle has just arrived at Spence Academy for girls. She soon realizes that she is very different from the other girls. Gamma was raised in India, so she is not up to date in the fashions nor does she know any of the things that the other girls have already been taught. Something had happened to Gamma that caused her to be sent to this awful school. Tragedy in her family and some weird visions cause her to feel the most alone she’s been in her life. She has no friends, her brother doesn’t care, and her father has gone into a depression. Her visions, as she finds out, are a result of her mother, Virginia, who was part of an occult called “The Order”. Now that Gamma is older she has received that power as well. The question is, can Gamma control her curiosity and be responsible with it?
This is a really interesting book, though some people might think it’s slow to start, it still keeps you interested throughout the entire story. These books may be the start of a new big series. The two books that continue Gamma’s story are called “Rebel Angels” and “A Sweet Far Thing” and I can’t wait to read them!
