Warren S. Conners

Mr. Warren S. Conners, 63, of 25 Conners Road, Hogansburg, died Monday (February 4, 2008) afternoon at his home.  He had been in failing health for the past year.

He was born August 22, 1944 in Hogansburg, the son of Louis Stanley and Pearl Garrow Conners.  He attended Mohawk and Salmon River Central School.  He attended a police school in Plattsburgh and also took courses at Mater Dei, Hogansburg Location.  He married Victoria Armstrong on January 30, 1965 at the Hogansburg Methodist Church with Rev. Leonard Owen, officiating.

He was a police officer with Akwesasne Mohawk Police Department and also worked as a private investigator.  He also worked as an ironworker with Local #440 at one time.  Most recently, he was a Tribal Gaming Inspector.  He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Akwesasne Detachment and the Gerald R. Roy Amvets Post #4, Massena.  He was a former member of the Free and Accepted Masons #513, Massena.  He played the guitar and was a former member of the Thundertones.  He loved to golf and was an avid Yankees Baseball and Washington Redskins Fan.  He enjoyed woodworking, visiting with friends, going to the casinos, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a member of the Hogansburg Methodist Church.

Warren is survived by his wife, Victoria; by 2 sons, Warren S. Conners, Jr., Cornwall, Ontario; Todd Conners, Monterey, California; a daughter, Leisha Conners Bauer and her husband, Bruce, Boulder, Colorado; 3 grandchildren, Cody and Hunter Conners, and Brendan Bauer; by 2 sisters, Vanessa Smoke and Sheryl Conners, both of Hogansburg; by 7 brothers and their wives, Charles “Super” and Linda Conners, Phoenix, NY; M. Steve and Delores Conners, Hogansburg; Michael and Melanie Conners, Hogansburg; Brian and Ruth (Louie) Conners of Oneida and Hogansburg, repectively; Randall and Laurie Conners, Hogansburg; Jeffrey and Deborah Conners, Hogansburg; Robert Conners, Hogansburg, and by many nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his chosen brothers and sisters, Francis Garrow, Hogansburg; Gladys Yaddow, Fort Covington; Beverly Barney, Hogansburg; Mary and Neil Laughing, Hogansburg; Alan Millett, Gilboa; Leon and Evelyn Millett, Central Square; Clara and Levy Margosian, Massena; Charlotte and John DaRin, Atlanta, Georgia; Elaine and Frank Scott, Fort Jackson; and an uncle, Louis “Butch” Conners, Cornwall Island.

He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Margaret Ann and Gloria Jean Conners.

Friends called Tuesday and Wednesday at the Donaldson Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Thursday 2:00 PM with Rev. Deborah Waldron, pastor of the Hogansburg Methodist Church, and Rev. James E. Barnes, II, pastor of the Potsdam United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Area 2, Massena.
