Akwesasne Mohawk Police hold a drug awareness presentation at Kawehnoke Recreation Center

On Friday January 18th, 2008 at 7 pm the Kawehnoke Recreation Center hosted a Drug Awareness Presentation with Guest Speaker Youth Services Officer Constable Nicole Miller. Many community members attended the presentation and asked questions about the current trends of drugs that are prevalent in Akwesasne. Pictures of different kinds of illegal drugs such as Marijuana, Cocaine, Crack, Methamphetamine, LSD, GHB, and Ketamine were provided. The community members also saw pictures of the physical affects of illegal drugs and the physiological affects. The attendees were also provided information on several different kinds of prescription drugs and over-the-counter drugs such as Percocet, Oxycontin, Oxycodone, Vicodin and Gravol that are being abused and circulated within the community.

Another awareness presentation is being scheduled about Drinking and Driving and the affects of under aged drinking. The date and time for that presentation will be announced at a later date.
