Powwow drum donated to AMS students

On Monday staff and students at Ahkwesahsne Mohawk School were treated to a surprise visit from Mr. Sam Benedict who made a donation of a powwow drum.  Mr. Benedict raised money within the community to purchase the drum from “Tribal Spirit”.  The drums are made by Rob Todd, using methods and materials according to teachings that have been passed through the generations.

The donation is greatly appreciated and the drum will be used by the Mohawk Curriculum to further teach Mohawk culture and songs.
