    The Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League is well under way. Akwesasne players Nonkon Thomas and Tommy Thomas of the Glengarry Highlanders Jr. A hockey took on the Ottawa Ole Town Rebels Saturday night in the team's hometown arena in Maxville.     Akwesasne players are getting ready to return to the rink and court as Massena Central basketball and hockey seasons approach their season openers. The girls varsity hockey team’s roster includes KC Herne, a returning MVP, Tori Gray and Abigail Johnson from Akwesasne. Coach Greg Paquin will spend his first year leading the team as head coach after former coach Jenn Gray left the district to take an administrative post at Potsdam.     The two Akwesasne teams in the Massena Men's Broomball League won their respective games last Sunday at the Massena Arena. But both were down to the wire. In their game against Bowlmor, the Chiefs held a 3-1 late lead when Bowlmor scored in the final minute to bring them within one.     The Massena varsity football and volleyball seasons came to an end in state Class A playoffs. The volleyball team lost 3-0 to Jamesville-DeWitt on Nov. 8 at SUNY Potsdam in the opening round of state play. They close their season with a 17-2 record, undefeated in the regular season.     The Massena boys and girls varsity soccer seasons came to an end in the NYSPHAA regional playoffs, while the volleyball team dropped their first game of the year but will still advance to regional play.
