    It was senior night for four Salmon River High School girls basketball players on Thursday, February 2, but of course, visiting Malone (7-7, 8-11) did not care as they went on the win 54-35. The Lady Huskies ran out to a 13-6 first quarter lead and worked their way to 29-17 at the half time buzzer. The Shamrocks (2-12, 5-14) rallied in the third to cut the deficit to only eight but the Huskies kicked it up and went on a 8-0 run to put the game out of reach of the Shamrocks.     As the Massena girls and boys basketball teams approach the end of their seasons, the squads fashioned wins over Canton, Potsdam and Salmon River. Meanwhile, the varsity boys hockey team was defeated in both games of a Feb. 10-11 tournament at Massena Arena.     The Seaway Valley Rapids Atom AA hosted the Gloucester Rangers last weekend on Kawehno:ke and despite several excellent chances Gloucester handed them a 10-1 loss. Kaiden Pyke scored the Rapid's only goal-a second period tally-as he weaved his way from the blue line and stick-handled around the Ranger's defenders to score.     Akwesasne will be hosting tryouts for Team Eastern Door & the North for the upcoming North American Indigenous Games, which will be held in Toronto, Canada July 16-23, 2017. The U19 box lacrosse tryout for girls born 1998 & later will be held Friday, February 10th from 3:30-5 pm and Saturday, February 11th from 8-9:30 pm at the Benson Center, Cornwall, Ontario.
