Massena varsity girls and boys hockey are preparing to return to the ice for the 2017-18 season. The Akwesasne Wild are a perfect 6-0 in National Capital Women's Hockey following a 4-0 win last weekend on Kawehno:ke. We opened the tournament vs. the Clarington Flames on Friday morning. It was a close game resulting in a win with a power wrist shot by Chanel Thompson with .01 second left in the third period. After an undefeated regular season, the Massena varsity volleyball team’s 2017 run has come to an end. It was a couple of tough losses for the Wolves hockey program. Last Monday on Kawehno:ke the Charlan Rebels defeated the Akwesasne Novice B team 6-3. The Massena varsity football team ended their regular season on a high note and the varsity volleyball team lost their first matchup of the season in the Section 10 title game, but they will continue in state playoffs. On Monday, Oct. 30 at Mike Nichols Field, Massena beat Franco Cite from Ottawa, Ontario 58-18 to close their regular season. The Ice Pigs added another win to their undefeated season with a big 7-0 win over The Club. In an earlier game the Chiefs defeated Open Net/Ole Smokehouse 2-1. In the first game of the season for both clubs they were scheduled to play each other, but the Chiefs forfeited. The Akwesasne Wild won their game last weekend on Kawehnoke over Rockland 3-1. Denise Thompson opened the scoring in the first period as she tipped in a blast from Krystal Peters taken from the face-off circle. The CISL now has more representation from Akwesasne as the Stars and Lady Devils are joined by the Akwesasne Wolves. That new team is composed of former Lady Devils and Stars players as well as local women who had joined Cornwall teams in the past.
