In the E-K meet on Friday, Sept. 19, Massena swam to a 70-21 win. Massena took first in every event except for the opening bout, the 200-medley relay. The annual Snye Bums tournament was held at the Tsi Snaihne Recreation field and the conditions were perfect. Sunny skies, cool breeze through the field, no mosquitos and lots of laughs. By Andy Gardner The Massena Raiders won their first varsity football game since 2017, a blowout 41-6 victory over the Franklin Academy Huskies in Malone. Quarterback Dominic Monacelli went 7-13 passing for 118 yards. He threw one touchdown pass and one interception. He rushed for 17 yards on two attempts and also ran in one touchdown. Starting eighteen months ago Karen Francis started preparing for her first Ironman race – the Ironman 70.3 Atlantic City. Ethan Miller ran in Massena's touchdown, and Ty Page came through and scored the two-point conversion. Massena quarterback Dominic Monacelli went 4-8 passing for 35 yards. The league starts from age 3 to 12 and North Franklin home games are held at the Bombay and Rainbow Park field. The park at Generations field is being worked out for games at a later date. By Andy Gardner The Akwesasne Bucks made it to the championship round of the 2019 President's Cup at Kahnawake Sports complex, but the title went to the Six Nations Rivermen. The Bucks had a strong showing in the Cup, finishing with a 5-2 tournament record, the second best only to the Rivermen who were 6-1. Six Nations' only loss was to Akwesasne. On Friday, Aug. 30, the Massena Lady Raiders opened their season at home against Indian River. They lost 3-2 in overtime.
