Community members residing in the Quebec portion of Akwesasne will be receiving letters from Revenu Quebec outlining the process for proving housing status for the solidarity tax credit without an RL-31 slip. This is for people who own their own house or are unable to obtain an RL-31 slip from their landlord. Twenty-seven Native American students wrapped up their careers at Massena Central High School and graduated as members of the Class of 2017 on Saturday, June 24. (June 20, 2017) The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club recently received a $15,000 grant from the First Nations Development Institute of Longmont, Colorado. This award will support the efforts of the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club’s Nutrition for Kids Project. The project aims to assist 100 community children from low-income families with food for weekends and during the times when school is out. On June 22, 2017, a group of individuals gathered at the four corners on Kawehnoke, to raise funds to fix the longhouse that they love. It was brought to people's attention that the roof needs to be fixed. It only took a handful of individuals who attend the longhouse one day to raise over $4,000.
