    (February 28, 2018) On January 19, 2018 at approximately 3 p.m., the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena suffered major damage from what is being deemed as a ‘Suspicious Fire’ by the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office and the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS).     On Wednesday, February 21st the Akwesasne Mohawk School's Grade 7 and 8 music class paid a visit to the SRMT Office of the Aging to put on a show for the seniors. Accompanied by their teachers, the AMS students showed Akwesasne elders what they have learned throughout the school year. The Grade 7 students have been learning to play the ukulele, while the Grade 8 students have learned to play the guitar.     The Native North American Travelling College hosted their 3rd Annual Art Wars at the St. Regis Mohawk School, on Saturday February 17th. The event began at 3 pm with contestants registering and preparing for the preliminary rounds of the contest. A total of 16 contestants competed in the Art Wars.     In July 2018, the Government of Canada is expected to pass legislation legalizing the sale of recreational cannabis.     The Akwesasne Mohawk Police continue to seek out three men wanted on outstanding arrest warrants after investigating a home invasion which occurred on Sunday, February 11, 2018.
