Every year, St. Lawrence College, Cornwall Campus awards several Indigenous and first-generation First Nation students with bursaries to assist them in their educational journey. A “Hogansburg” man is facing federal drug charges after being caught in Oswego County with 110 pounds of cocaine. Jake Patnode, 24, was charged on Saturday, February 10, 2018 with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Syracuse. The Akwesasne Labor Market Information Study (ALMIS) is a comprehensive project sponsored by the Akwesasne Area Management Board (AAMB). The study is being conducted with community participation and completed through a survey format. Dozens showed up for outdoor Winter Carnival fun at Generations Park on Saturday, Feb. 9 and the St. Regis Mohawk School on Sunday, Feb. 10. A highlight of Saturday were sled rides from a team that competes in the Iditarod dogsled races in Alaska. This years Wild Game Cook-off and Meat Pie/Apple Pie & Cake Decorating Contest brought out a number of chefs, bakers and homemakers entering their best creations. The 27th Annual Akwesasne Winter Carnival's Closing Ceremonies were held at the St. Regis Mohawk School on Sunday, February 11th at 5 pm.
