A representative from the Office of the Family Advocate is working to enhance the Tribal Council’s program that delivers winter jackets to local kids in need. On Sunday November 19th, The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne presented the Ahkwesahsne Homemakers with a check for $18,000. The check helped the homemakers to officially reach their $75,000 goal to fix their parking lot. The Ahkwesahsne Homemakers had been fundraising since the beginning of May to raise the funds needed to fix their parking lot. $75,000 was the goal, and the Homemakers were able to reach up to $58,000 on their own through fundraising and donations. The Snye Recreation pulled off another wonderful community event, their annual Christmas Enchantment, which took place from November 9th to November 12th. The Annual Event is a big hit with the community and surrounding areas, with hundreds coming to try their luck at winning one of the beautifully decorated trees.
