    On Onerahtókha/April 4, 2017, the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council donated $24,580 from the Community Partnership Fund for the Hogansburg-Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department (HAVFD) to purchase a Hurst Hydraulic Rescue Tool (a.k.a.     Akwesasne Child and Family Services, Holistic Health and Wellness, and Community Health all teamed up for their monthly evening of fun on April 13th at Saint Regis Recreation.     Open burning is the single greatest cause of wildfires in New York. When temperatures increase and the past fall’s debris and leaves dry out, wildfires can start and spread easily and be further fueled by winds and a lack of green vegetation.     The St. Regis Recreation along with the St. Regis Dance Club volunteers put together a fun filled evening for the families of Akwesasne. It started with an Easter egg hunt, which was split up into age categories to give all the children a chance to find eggs and win prizes.     The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Environmental Division held a focus meeting on Tribal Fisheries, Thursday April 13, 2017. Information was shared by the Program Manager, Tony David and feedback was given by community members. The Akwesasne Soaring Eagles 12U Volleyball team also joined in to help out and to fundraise for their upcoming provincial tournament.     The Longhouse was jam-packed this past Saturday, April 15th. Singers from Akwesasne and surrounding communities like Kahnawake, Cattaraugus, Allegany, Onondaga, Six Nations and Tuscarora came to attend the Six Nations Spring Sing, which was held at the Mohawk Nation Longhouse.     With lacrosse season comes fundraising season and with barbecue dinners comes delicious ribs. The family of Drew Shenandoah held a barbecue rib dinner last weekend on Route 37 in Hogansburg. The Indian Time reporter received a batch of ribs for his effort and they were mouth-watering; however, because it was Good Friday, he had an agonizing wait until Saturday to enjoy the feast.
