On Saturday, December 15, a benefit volleyball tournament was held to help the U15 Boys lacrosse team. The tournament was organized by Hannah Leaf and Cheyenne Lazore. The Salmon River boy’s basketball squad had its work cut out for them as they faced the reigning Section 10 Champions and this year’s powerhouse, the Malone Huskies. They fell to the Huskies by a score of 77-23. The Huskies jumped out to a fast start with a 22-6 first period lead. Going into the third period of the Salmon River home opener, it looked like the Shamrocks were on their way to a victory with a 4-1 lead over the Potsdam Sandstoners. The Massena girl’s basketball team jumped out to an early 20-6 first quarter lead on a visiting Gouverneur squad last Friday night. The Lady Raiders turned up the offense and held the Wildcats to just three points in the second for a halftime score of 31-9 on their way to a 45-24 win. Things started out slowly for the Red Raiders, but once they got in the groove they were able to capture a 4-1 victory over the Thousand Islands Islanders. The Wolves squeaked out a win in overtime against the Hawks this past Saturday at the Anowara kowa arena. Going into overtime tied at four, Justin Rutley scored the game winning goal off a shootout.
