    The hard work and determination of the A.M.S. students were recognized for November, but this time around the people pushing them at home to hit the books were also recognized. Parents were invited to the monthly awards ceremony held last Friday at the Kawehnoke School and they were thanked for helping their kids meet their reading goal. As usual the awards ceremony featured the Sports Box but also these awards fell on Pajama Day which many of the students, and some of the teachers, took part....

    (December 9, 2016) Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service Media Release – On December 8, 2016 at 4:58 PM, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police received a request for assistance from the Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance at a residence situated at 146 Hilltop Drive in Akwesasne, Quebec. Police attended the scene and found a male identified as Walter Oakes seriously injured and laying in the living room in a pool of blood being treated by Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance members.     At the End of Season Ceremony, the Chiefs, Clanmothers, and Faithkeepers released the men (hunters) to go out and collect meat for the Midwinter Ceremonies.     Two Akwesasne residents were among nine people charged in a Dec. 12 drug sweep in Franklin County that involved St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police. Abraham T. Gray, 31, is charged with two counts each of third-degree criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance, all felonies.     BELFIELD, N.D. – Belle Fourche Pipeline Co. estimates that 130,200 gallons of oil spilled into a tributary of the Little Missouri River last week and another 46,200 gallons leaked into a hillside, the North Dakota Department of Health said Monday, Dec. 12. The spill discovered by a landowner on Dec. 5 was not detected by monitoring equipment on the pipeline, which is owned by of True Companies of Wyoming.
