    Cornwall Island, Ontario - On December 2nd, 2009 at approximately 4:05 a.m., Akwesasne Mohawk Police were dispatched to a report of a vehicle being rammed on Cornwall Island, Ontario. Officers located the suspect vehicle, and while attempting to stop it were also rammed. The suspect vehicle was located a short time later. The operator, Jeremy Francis, 22 years of age of Cornwall Island, Ontario was arrested and held for a Bail Hearing at the Cornwall Provincial Court on December 3rd, 2009.     Submitted by AMPS On Saturday, November 28, 2009 in the early morning hours, an incident occurred at a residence on Cornwall Island in which four persons were allegedly assaulted. Two of the victims received serious injuries and were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries sustained in the attack.     The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe has announced the date for the new off-reservation gaming referendum. On January 30, 2009, eligible voters wiill be asked, “DO YOU SUPPORT THE TRIBE PURSUING OFF-RESERVATION GAMING IN THE CATSKILLS?” The same question was asked of voters at a November 2009 referendum. However, an appeal was filed citing violations of the tribe’s election law because the referendum question was not announced a full 30-days prior to the vote.
