    A special Salmon River School Board of Education election was held on Tuesday December 3, 2013 in the High School Auditorium. The election was held to fill a vacant slot left after Vice President Greg Cunningham resigned in September. Emily Lauzon was elected to serve the remaining two years of an unexpired term after a 333 to 273 win. Members of the Salmon River BOE typically serve five-year terms.     The SRCS Mohawk Club members shared their culture with their classmates on Native American Day, which they celebrated on Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Middle school students took part in the activities in the morning while the high school celebrated in the afternoon.     ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY TAX INCREASE IN EFFECT The cost to purchase items in St. Lawrence County has gone up. A sales tax hike has gone into effect. The local share of the sales tax increased from 3% to 4%, creating a total sales tax of 8%. The county had been seeking the 1% hike for the past several years as a way to increase revenue.
