Akwesasne--On Saturday, November 14, 2015 the family of the late Eric Oakes put on an 8-ball Pool Tournament in his memory. The proceeds from the raffles were generously donated to the Akwesasne Epilepsy Support Group. Eric was an avid pool player in his community and considered one of the better pool players in the men's league. There are two words to describe the Salmon River 2015 Girls Varsity Volleyball team: determination and solidarity. The Salmon River volleyball squad earned its fifth straight Section 10 Title by sweeping past Potsdam on Tuesday, Noveember 3. Dominating performances week after week earned the Salmon River boys varsity cross country team a Section X Class C championship title at sectional meet in Tupper Lake. As a team champion, Salmon River was able to take its top five runners to the NYSPHSAA meet on November 14 at Monroe-Woodbury High School.
