    Alaska - A settlement of nearly $5 million will be awarded to three of the four Indigenous men, known as the Fairbanks Four, who spent 18 years in prison for a murder conviction. This conviction, related to the 1997 death of Fairbanks teenager John Hartman, was vacated in 2015. The vacating of their convictions came after a pivotal state witness withdrew their testimony and a comprehensive hearing suggested that other individuals might have been responsible for Hartman’s death.
